The 2026 Fusion Championships was attended by eight racers, but with only six
Fusions available it was decided to have four races with two racers sitting out
each race, so each racer competed in three races.
The shifting light wind created problems for all, but in general racing was very
competitive and enjoyed by all. The highlight of the day may have been Samuel
finding himself in the lead at the first mark and still in the lead at the second
mark….Especially when William who was sitting out this particular race said he
expected never to hear the end of it.
We had three different winners across the four races. With one discard the final
results were:
First Yoland 2 points
Second Nick 3 points
Third Ruth 5 Points
Fourth William 5 Points
Fifth Kayla 5 points
Sixth James 7 points
Seventh Simon 9 points
Eight Samuel 11 points

The Laser trophy races produced thrills, spills and chills !
Every
one
of
the
six
racers
capsized
at
least
once.
The
overall
winner
was
not
settled until the last mark of the last race.
Three
races
with
the
afternoon
races
having
the
best
conditions
with
sunshine,
blue
skies
and
a
gusty
SW
wind.
A
running
start
from
1
down
to
5,
beat
back
to
a
wing
mark,
then
round
1.
Ben
and
Dave
had
a
close
duel
in
all
races
and
Kayla
scored her first win in a Laser in the third race.

Mike Smith (19). Thanks to Annabelle and Ruth in the Safety Boat for watching
